Meet Wall Street Journal Bestseller Tiffani Bova

Following on from last week’s profile of Pierluigi Collina, this week we take a look at the fascinating career of Tiffani Bova.

As the chief growth evangelist at Salesforce and the author of a Wall Street Journal bestseller, Tiffany promises to be one of the conference’s most engaging speakers. In her current role at Salesforce, she has had the good fortune to work with some of the world’s most innovative companies, helping them to transform the way they engage with customers, grow their businesses, and create amazing customer experiences. But her journey to this point has been every bit as intriguing.

Graduating from Arizona State in 1988 with a degree in Public Programs, Tiffani’s career has been hugely varied, straddling the corporate, academic, and media worlds.

Prior to working with Salesforce she was a sales, marketing, and customer service executive for everything from startups to Fortune 500 companies. Perhaps due to this wide ranging experience, she approached all her roles with a more holistic perspective than many of her peers. This ability to acknowledge both current trends and future opportunities led to her being recognized as one of the first to develop a robust go to market model for cloud-based solutions and adopt indirect channel strategies to accommodate rapid changes in buying behaviour.

Having achieved significant success in the corporate world, Tiffani turned her attention to more academic pursuits, joining Gartner, where she became a Distinguished Analyst and Research Fellow. It was while at Gartner that she won the Thought Leadership award, earning acknowledgement and accolades from technology industry leaders for her cutting-edge analysis and skill at architecting bold new strategies for sales and growth.

It is this combination of real world experience of sales, marketing, and innovation with academic rigour and focus that has given her such a unique perspective - one which allows her to inspire businesses and individuals to make smarter choices, think ahead, and ‘increase their Growth IQ’.

Translated into eight languages (Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, Chinese, Mandarin, Polish, and Vietnamese), it was in the running to be the 2019 Business Book of the Year and was named the 3rd most sold book by 800CEO-Read in 2019. Writing with wit and self-deprecation (Tiffani refers to herself as a ‘recovering sales-rep’), the book is an elegant distillation of her experiences and business philosophy.

Podcasting has opened up an entirely new channel for reaching her audience, with ‘What’s Next’ consistently appearing at the top of the business podcast charts. Over the course of more than 70 episodes she’s spoken to a fascinating range of business and technology leaders, from Arianna Huffington to Gretchen Carlson, looking at the topic of ‘what’s next’ for growth, innovation, customer experience, and sales from a broad range of perspectives

The industry has not been slow to show its recognition of her work, with a dazzling array of awards, including being named to the Thinkers50 2019 Global Ranking of Management Thinkers, one of the ‘Most Powerful and Influential Women in California’ from the National Diversity Counsel, Top 50 sales and marketing influencers by Top Sales World Magazine, INC Magazine and LinkedIN to name but a few.
